The Government of BC has announced $10million for community-based emergency sexual assault response services that are trauma informed and culturally appropriate. The services will meet the needs of sexual assault survivors around the province, including the unique needs of Indigenous communities and survivors.
It has been a pleasure to work alongside WAVAW, West Coast LEAF, EVA BC, and others around the province to advocate for the needs of survivors in the immediate aftermath of sexual assault.
Sexual Assault Response Teams and Integrated Clinics based in and attentive to the communities they serve are evidence based, cost-effective, and survivor centred. This is great news for survivors and the organizations that serve them in BC!
