Thank you for signing up to receive updates from my campaign! My apologies that it has taken a while to get in touch (we have been busy getting things up and running over here), but I look forward to keeping you up to date on campaign happenings, opportunities, and successes.
What have I been up to?
On June 16th we officially launched the campaign in Fernwood Square. We met with neighbours and shared some local coffee. We covered the Fernwood wishing tree with community wishes, our neighbours and yours wished for a city where everyone feels heard and valued; more community dinners; townhouses for families; family and neighbourhoodfriendly density; green space; green space at crystal pool; a fun city; a more inclusive city. Oh yeah – and a unicorn!
Early this month we held a comedy fundraiser – Victoria has some amazing, hilarious, and diverse talent. We all had giggles for a good cause! Our silent auction featured goods designed by a local mom and tours of our beautiful city.
I continue to meet stakeholders, community organizations, and individuals working hard to improve our city. We’ve been chatting with community associations, recovery and support organizations, groups that build and provide affordable housing, developers, and local artists and business owners.
Teaching at UVIC, volunteering with VSAC, working with Equal Voice to improve political spaces and, of course, Evie and Asher are also keeping me busy!
What’s coming up?
Engaging with young families: This month, we are launching our Park, Play, and Politics series. Bring your kiddos for a play, a chance to meet other parents in the neighbourhood, and a conversation about the future of Victoria! We’ll bring bubbles, balls and snacks. All are welcome.
July 16th, 3:30-5:30pm at Vic West Playground
July 28th, 10am – 12pm in Quadra Village (exact details TBC)
Aug 10th, 3:30-5:30pm at Victor School (Victor and Denman)
Talking to voters: I am excited to be attending upcoming coffee parties – A number of folks have volunteered to host their friends and neighbours for coffee so that I can have a chance to talk to people directly about my platform for City Council. If you are interested in hosting a coffee party, please e-mail my campaign manager Alison James, at email@example.com
In the community: I am continuing to meet with wonderful people and organizations doing important work in the community to hear about their goals and ideas for Victoria – If you know of someone in particular I should be speaking with, please do let me know.
How can you get involved?
We need your help! Volunteers make a campaign successful. When we start door-knocking and E-Day preparations (SOON!) we will be in touch with specific opportunities around those two tasks. In the meantime, below are specific volunteer opportunities we’d love you to help out with!
- Attend a play date or coffee party with Grace (numerous opportunities coming up)
- Take part in our ‘Faces and Families of Victoria’ series (https://gracelore.ca/campaign/stories/)
- Volunteer your skills – let us know what you would like to offer!
To volunteer for any of these opportunities, please e-mail my campaign manager Alison James at firstname.lastname@example.org
